A loan helped to buy thread, dye, needles, and fabric to make towels and diapers for babies.

Maria's story

Maria has been a client of the Banco do Povo Crédito Solidário (BPCS) for 4 years. This is her first loan with Kiva. She works to achieve financial independence and to support her household.

She lives with just one son, who also helps with the work. Her work is sewing and decorating children's items. She paints and embroiders, among other things.

With the loan, she is going to buy thread, dyes, needles, and fabric to sew towels and diapers for babies. The extra income will allow her to expand her business and include new products, increasing her service area.

Translated from Portuguese by Kiva volunteer Kristin Fisher.

This loan is special because:

This is one of few affordable credit options for low-income borrowers in São Paulo, Brazil.
