A loan helped to buy more mulberry for her tapa cloth making business.


Fifita's story

Fifita is 20 years old, she's still single, but she's confidently running her tapa cloth making business to earn some income and help care for her parents and their family. She also works to achieve her vision of building a new house for her family, and to buy them a plough to use for their mulberry plantation because it is very helpful for them.

Fifita is operating her business from her own home. Her mother taught her well to make tapa cloth and she helps her a lot.

Last February Tonga was struck by a very strong cyclone named Gita that affected most of Tongan peoples' lives.
The cylone damaged part of their house, which allowed the rain in to their home, and damaged some of the finished tapa that are ready to sell.

Fifita faces the challenge of a lack of funds to buy some raw materials. She applied for a rehabilitation loan and used it to buy some more mulberry for her business of making tapa.Fifita is working hard to be able to reach her dream and her visions.
