Sierra-Lynn's story

I was born and raised on the island of Kaua'I and have lived on the North Shore of the island all my life. Being from the countryside and a farming background, as I grew up it was obvious where my heart laid. Farming was and has been a desire since I was a little girl. I grew up on the farm that my grandfather started, harvesting kalo (Hawaiian name for taro from which poi is made), picking apple snails off the plants and doing everything imaginable. The fond memories of growing up with the farming lifestyle stay with me as an adult. Today I reside in Anahola on the island of Kaua'i. and I still farm on the North Shore. My family and I have two farms, one in Lumaha'i Valley and one in Hanalei. It’s my goal to harvest on a larger scale and generate a comfortable livelihood farming kalo and exporting cattle. Looking back, I realize my grandfather’s old fashioned solid values have influenced my life’s path. He taught us the value of money, hard-work and discipline. Learning these values is priceless to me. I carry them with me in all I do in my life and incorporate them into my business as well.
