A loan helped to buy seeds and organic soil amendments.

Nelly's story

Nelly, 19, lives in the town of Cairoma, to the south of the department of La Paz. She lives in a family home with her parents, who are elderly, where her plot of land is located.

She has worked growing potatoes for two years, work she learned from her ancestors. Potatoes are grown biannually. In between seasons she also grows peaches, tomatoes, and corn.

She works the land from early in the morning until the end of the day. During the harvest season she goes to the city of El Alto to sell her products and earn an income to help with the household finances.

She's requesting this loan to be able to buy seeds and organic soil amendments and, that way, begin preparing the land for planting potatoes.
