Ari's story

I am a returning Kiva Zip applicant. My previous loan was paid back timely and contributed to the growth of Opa's Goat Grove, a small goat farm I started about the same time as my construction business took off, four years ago.
Growing up in Portland, OR, I spent a lot of time outside. I helped around the house and was hungry for tasks. I used my hands and mind in order to physically and theoretically connect challenges with solutions. My tactical childhood surely played a role in my choices of work. And with a degree in Philosophy from Whittier College, I am condemned to a life of hard work! I can't stand sitting around. I love moving too much: connecting with clients and growing my network, wood working and improving/repairing things that need attention, like old homes!
I feel today as if my work life is an extension of my inner childhood. The little guy that just wanted to take apart and put back together.
In between childhood and present business there was a lot of growth for Ari Bacharach. After college I traveled far and wide always finding jobs, sometimes without a common language and sometimes without pay. My work ethic and drive was to perform, get done, and do as much as possible as well as possible with locals.
And after a few short years, I was back in Portland! Then out to Mosier to start a farm. I met my wife and now we have a two year old and are due in July with another!
I dream of my children absorbing my work ethic, and improving it! I want our family to learn and grow. My business is often treated like my family. With grace and appreciation. I respect slow and steady, sustained growth.
