A loan helped to buy a sewing machine and sewing materials for her sewing services and make it more effective for her family members.

Arooj's story

Arooj is a 35-year-old married woman and a mother of two children living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She is a hardworking mother who is helping her husband by providing sewing services at her home. She has been doing this for the past four years.

Arooj is very well familiar with the techniques of stitching clothes. She sews ladies' clothes for her nearby town. She earns enough to lead a decent life.

To help her continue operations of her sewing business, she has requested a loan to buy a sewing machine and sewing material, e.g. spools, threads, zippers, stiff cloths, buttons, cloths, etc.

Her previous sewing machine has become out of order due to continuous work, and her sewing materials have diminished. In addition to repaying the loan, she will use part of the revenues to deal with personal expenses.

Arooj thanks Kiva and field partner BRAC Pakistan.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Pakistan.
