Kadiatu's Mayefeh Farmers Group's story

Kadiatu B (1st on left) and featured borrower of Kadiatu's Mayefeh Farmers, is a leader of female farmers in Mayefeh village and has a large family of nine who survive off of her farming. Kadiatu is very passionate about female empowerment and has become a strong leader in the community, regularly organizing women's group activities including those related to farming.

She is a seasoned farmer who lost her business during the Ebola crisis, but now refuses to give up despite losing a lifetime of work. She has organized a large group of other women who similarly had prospered before the crisis, lost everything, but now will not give up. All members are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A no-interest Kiva loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.

In this group: Kadiatu, Sia, Yealie, Sia, Makai, Sallay, Makally, Memuna, Kadie, Marie
