Wuliamatu (4th from right) is the featured borrower of Wuliamatu's Female Farmers group. Wuliamatu is a strong leader in the community with a large extended family of 14 who depend on her farming. Wuliamatu regularly leads education-related initiatives in Rotheren, and is passionate about education. She hopes to send all her own children, as well as her nieces and nephews, to school with the proceeds from her farming. She is a seasoned farmer who lost her business during the Ebola crisis but will not give up. Wuliamatu has therefore helped organize a group of women who, like her, were doing well before Ebola but now are trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A no-interest Kiva loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
