Hawa K (1st on left), featured borrower of Hawa's Female Farmers group, is a Master Farmer in Wore-Bana village and has a large family of 9. She is a strong leader in the community, and helps educate Wore-Bana youth in farming and agriculture.
She is a seasoned farmer who lost her business during the Ebola crisis as well as several extended family members. She refuses to give up despite loosing a lifetime of work, and organised a large group of other women who similarly had prospered before the crisis, lost everything but now will not give up.
All members are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A no-interest KIVA loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
