Adama (first on the left), featured borrower of Adama's Female Farmers group, is a Master Farmer in Makossa village and supports a large family of nine with her farming. She is a strong leader in the community and hopes her business will grow so that all her children can go to school. She is a seasoned farmer who lost her business during the Ebola crisis but refuses to give up despite losing a lifetime of work.
Adama has therefore organised a large group of other women who similarly had prospered before the crisis, then lost everything but now will not give up. All members are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take out extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A no-interest Kiva loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
