Erin's story

Erin: I began my natural hair journey back in 1994, long before it was the popular. Back then, little to no education for natural hair existed, and the products on the market were extremely oily with unpleasant scents and chemical ingredients. As education about kinky curls became available, so did curly hair care products. I experimented with several products on the market, only to be disappointed with the negative results. I have always been of the mindset that if I don't like it then I will make it myself!

Leigh-Ann: I was a self-proclaimed product junky! My mom never knew how to tame my curls, so I became addicted to hair products at a very young age. I have tested hundreds of products for curly hair only to be disappointed. Finding a shampoo and conditioner that would keep my hair hydrated naturally, and allow me to run a comb through it without stress and agony was a huge challenge. I just REALLY wanted a product that worked.

The frustration of finding the perfect product is what led to the creation of 2 Girls with Curls Hair Products. We met while working at Whole Foods Market in 2011. As friends, we were always trading stories about our hair challenges, especially when finding suitable products. Even with so many new hair care lines on the market it was difficult to find that magical product that was free from chemicals, and still made our hair look healthy, moisturized and beautiful. One day, half jokingly, we mentioned starting our own hair care line. This small idea grew into something tangible as we started concocting products in our kitchens. Several months of research, along with some failed recipes led us to the 2 Girls with Curls product line.
