A loan helped to buy seeds and to start horticultural farming to satisfy the demand for horticulture products in her area and eventually support her children.

Jane's story

Kenya’s Nyamira area is a beautiful landscape. It is endowed with natural streams and fertile soil that creates a favourable environment for farming.

Nyamira is the home to Jane, who commands a lot of respect from other residents of her village, both young and old. This has been her neighborhood for the last 12 years. She is trusted by other farmers not only because of her relentlessness and motivation in farming, but also because of her selflessness in taking care of her household.

Jane is seeking a loan of 40,000 Kenyan shillings (KES) to buy seeds and to start horticultural farming. She wants to take advantage of favorable weather patterns, a good road network in her village, good soil and a ready market for horticultural products, so that she can reap more profits.

Jane hopes that, through the loan, she will improve her living conditions. With an improved income she will be able to assure her children of a secure future and uninterrupted learning as she will be able to pay tuition fees on time. She will employ people to work for her on her horticulture farm, hence having a positive impact on society.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
