A loan helped to buy a new sewing machine and increase her production, as her other machine is now old and no longer functions properly.

Vimbai's story

Vimbai is 55 years old and lives in her own house in Harare with her son and her husband, who is a teacher.

She is a tailor and started small but her business has grown and she now has one employee who works for her full time. She sells her garments to individuals in her community and also sells uniforms to nearby schools.

Vimbai joined Thrive in December 2017. She received business advice and a loan of USD300, which she wants to use to buy a new sewing machine and increase her production. Her other sewing machine is now old and is no longer functioning properly. She is very confident that this loan will help her expand her business. She has a long term view of expanding her operations to many communities around her so as to increase her profits. She also promised to repay her loan well and maintain a good relationship with Thrive and its partners.
