A loan helped to start planting potatoes so that she can ensure a profitable harvest and become independent.

Maria Del Carmen's story

Maria is 27 years old and single. Her business is the production of potatoes. She does her work in Betanzos, a rural area often visited for its tourist attractions.

Maria lives in her own house. There she has agricultural land that was transferred to her by her parents so that she could become independent. Her work is growing potatoes, for which she has a traditional plow, shovels, mattocks and a wheelbarrow since all the work is manual. She sells the harvest at the local market. She has to begin the work of turning over the soil and fertilizing it to start planting in order to ensure that the next growing season is productive. Her advantage is that her product is in demand. Her problem is the initial investment that she has to make. Her dream is to become independent.

She wants to start the work she needs to do to plant potatoes. With this loan, she will buy fertilizer and seed potatoes, and she will pay laborers to turn the soil and to plant. This is her fourth loan from the institution in the 15 years that she has done this work.

For these reasons, Maria is requesting a loan to start planting potatoes so that she can ensure a profitable harvest and become independent.
