A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Neema's Group's story

Neema, pictured above, has been a farmer for five years, and is now proud to represent her group of 10 farmers in Kilolo North District. She is 25 years old, married and has two children.

Neema likes to think of herself as a very friendly person. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2015 and decided to represent her group because she likes being a leader. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has been able to consistently feed her family. Neema plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Neema’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 11.5 acres of land. Given that one member of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of one solar light.

In this group: Neema, Ziada, Editruda, Shukuru, Ykebeth, Tumaini, Bestina, Happy, Tuonesia, Romana

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
