A loan helped a member to buy sheep for resale in order to increase her earnings.

Kanmono Group's story

Altina is the lady holding the sheep by the neck in the picture. Altina, age 45, is from Mali and married to a retail trader. She has five children, two boys and three girls, ages 2 to 18. Two of the children are attending school.
Altina is illiterate but has 20 years experience raising sheep. She buys and sells in the local markets and often sends her animals to Bamako.
Altina is applying for a loan with the micro-finance institution to buy two sheep to fatten in order to increase her sales and revenue.
Altina is very dedicated to her business and the profits she makes allow her to pay for her children's clothing and cover their small expenses.
In the future, she would like to obtain additional loans and use her profits to buy a motorcycle for her children.
