A loan helped a member to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Enjo's Group's story

This season is not the first one that Enjo is working alongside One Acre Fund. She has been a member for one year now, having joined the program in 2017 and, although she is the only person featured in the above picture, she is actually representing her group of 13 farmers in Kilolo North District, Tanzania.

Enjo is often described by her community as a very trustworthy person and decided to be the one to represent her group because she likes being a leader. Like many of her fellow farmers, Enjo decided she wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best-quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. She hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to buy a goat.

This loan will not only help Enjo but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 22.5 acres of land. Additionally, some of the farmers in the group will be purchasing a solar light, so with this loan, the group will also receive a total of four solar lights.

In this group: Enjo, Elasto, Ridia, Tabu, Yahaya, Mary, Eleya, Oliva, Yeriko, Tulanyilika, Matrida, All, Kashibe

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
