A loan helped to fund primary healthcare projects in South Africa.

Sevamob's story

The Problem

In developing countries like India and South Africa, doctor density is 1/3rd to 1/4th that of the US. The situation is worse in under-served urban and rural areas. This leads to lower life expectancy and higher maternal and child mortality.

The Solution

Sevamob provides technology enabled healthcare to organizations in India and South Africa. It has 3 touch-points: a) Popup clinics for in-person care via medical professionals b) Tele-health for remote care via medical professionals c) Artificial intelligence for triage/consultation/diagnostics without a medical professional. Sevamob uses mobile clinics and a tele-health marketplace to provide primary care to low income patient groups in underserved areas. Its mobile clinics provide onsite care, which includes consultations, medications, 26 rapid tests, dental, vision, diet planning etc. Its tech platform provides infrastructure for tele health, healthcare IT and point of care diagnostics to 3rd party clinics.

The Impact

The company has been doing around ~15,000 patient consultations / month via 30 units (some shorter term) in India and South Africa. Majority of the units are sustainable. In select groups, they have reduced a) Vision issues by 25% b) Dental issues by 30% c) Malnutrition by 15%.

Loan use

The loan will be used to fund new primary healthcare projects in South Africa thus helping them expand their impact of increasing patient consultations.
