Jessica's story

I am a second generation Mexican American born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. My parents were hard working entrepreneurs who started a family restaurant, which is where I gained my first experience in business at age 10. As I continued to develop my entrepreneurial skills throughout life, I learned the value of education; and more importantly, how to overcome the challenges which business owners face on a daily basis. One of the most valuable lessons acquired was: "Human resources are a business's greatest asset, for a company-- large or small -- often boils down to a few good people, and its growth will be dependent upon its ability to attract other like minded individuals." Armed with this insight and experience, I went on to start my own Tequila company at the age of 21, and most recently a publishing company -- Fino Capital, Inc. The goal of Fino Capital is to publish works which empower society with broadened perspective, tackling controversial issues such as legal drug use, women's equality, unethical policing practices and the need for alternative energy sources -- all while enrapturing the reader within an entertaining story line. We feel that there is no better way to raise awareness than to place a reader -- mentally -- in someone else's shoes so that they may gain a different perspective on life. Unfortunately, humans often look at issues from the outside in, which makes us subject to becoming judgmental, but seeing the world through someone else's eyes brings about understanding, change and advancement in a society.
