La Alegría # 1 Group's story

"Grupo La Alegría # 1 [Happiness Group #1]" consists of 3 enterprising, hard-working, and honorable women. 23-year-old Yelda is the coordinator. She makes a living by making and selling hammocks, which has helped her to keep her 3 children on their feet. They have been the inspiration for her undertaking.

This is the first time that she is requesting a loan from ADIM. Her goal is to invest in her business, buying manila [thick hemp yarn], ropes, bobbins, and guard cables. She will use them in the production of her hammocks, so she can continue generating her income.

One of her partners is 44-year-old Magda, who works selling produce such as tomatoes, onions, yucca, chiltoma [a sweet pepper], and pipián [a kind of squash]. The other is 35-year-old Arelly, who makes a living selling hammocks.
