Em is a local farmer from Prey Veng province, 64 years old and a mother blessed with nine children. Nowadays, she still needs to support three children, one of whom is still in school; the other two are too young. Growing rice and raising pigs are her main sources of her family’s income. She has been involved with it for 40 years and it enabled her to keep up about 3 USD per day after expense.
Her rice did not grow well in this year because of flooding, it is her main challenge. This is the second loan cycle for Em with VisionFund, and she already paid her past loan on time. Via the previous loan, her family has improved their household appliances.
Em formed a group of three members seeking this new loan. As the group leader, she will spend her loan portion to buy more fertilizer and rice seed to input on her rice farmland to grow well. Em dreams that she can get higher yield from her farming with good income, so she can update her condition and support her child’s studying well.
