A loan helped to buy farm inputs and pay for labour.

Oumou Adja's story

At 45 years old, Oumou is a married woman with 12 children, the oldest of whom is 30 years old and the youngest is 2 years old. Only 3 of her children go to school.

Oumou harvests an acreage of 3/4 hectares. At the end of the rainy season, she has a total yield of about 1 tonne of groundnuts, 10 bags each weighing 100 kg. With her experience, she could increase her production but she has constraints associated with the high cost of quality farm inputs as well as a lack of financing, labour, and agricultural equipment.

With the money granted, Oumou intends to buy 50 kg of groundnuts and herbicides, which will increase her productivity and the quality of her production. With the profits, Oumou will be able to ensure the education of her 3 children, buy livestock to strengthen her small business, and save for higher learning for her children.
