Salamatu K (2nd from right) is as passionate farmer who supports her family of 5 and extended family of 7. She has helped other women in Makeneh Bana learn to farm, and was dismayed to see the damage Sierra Leone's recent Ebola crisis did to farmers in her village. Salamatu told KIVA loan representatives that "we must keep moving. Now is not the time to stop working." In this spirit she has organized a group of women who's farming was impacted by the crisis, but who are determined to rebuild. All members of this group are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A low interest KIVA loan will enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
