A loan helped to pay for land rental.

Sokna's story

Sokna, 41 years old, is a mother of five children and one married child. She lives in a small village in the Prey Chhor District of Kampong Cham Province. She has worked in agribusinesses for ten years to meet the needs of her children, who are enrolled in school. Working in the farming business with her husband, Sokna has been able to make just a decent income to cover her family’s daily expenditures.

Currently, Sokna is applying for her first loan with Kiva, via Hattha Kaksekar Limited (HKL), to rent farmland to grow rice. She is grateful for the loan granted through HKL, which has a much lower interest rate than usual for this kind of loan product. In the future, she wants to send her children to university, so they can graduate, as her children dream. She thanks all lenders for their financial support.

This loan is special because:

It supports the social and economic well being of low income families
