Kathryn's story

I grew up in Kentucky with an artistic and creative mother who even made me and my siblings matching Christmas sweaters and sewed outfits for me to match my dolls. I always saw my mom creating things on her sewing machine and it inspired me. I also grew up with a father that was a successful business man who modeled and taught the importance of work ethic.

When I had my first child, I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. That is when I created my first teepee. I created it for my daughter to play and read in and posted it on my Instagram. I had numerous people ask me to make them a teepee and that led to me opening an Etsy shop. The continual demand for teepees helped me see this hobby turn into a business and that’s when I decided to form E&E Teepees.

I have been able to sell many teepees over the past two years and found a niche market to sell in. I am going to partner with a book program where I will donate a book to a child in need for every teepee sold. I just received my first retail store order and hope to see my teepees in more stores in the near future.

I hope to expand and become a full-time business to support my family. I love that I have created something that parents can enjoy decorating their home with and children can enjoy reading and playing in.
