A loan helped to buy some embroidery supplies like as fabrics, thread, needles, pearls etc for her embroidery business.

Ghulam Sakeena's story

Ghulam Sakeena is a vigorous 39-year-old married woman and has 1 daughter and 2 sons. She lives with her family in a small one roomed house in Multan, Pakistan. Her husband is a mason with minimal income.

Five years ago she started a hand-embroidery business. She knows the art of making beautiful embroidery patterns. She is zealous about her work, and client demand is strong. Her embroidery patterns are very popular on her community. But business challenges, combined with family expenditures, frustrate them nearly every day. She wants to expand her business, but there is a lack of capital.

For this reason Ghulam Sakeena requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan, to buy some embroidery supplies such as thread, fabrics, needles, and pearls in large quantities to meet the increasing demand time after time. This is Ghulam Sakeena’s fifth loan cycle with Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan. She is picture doing embroidery work by hand.

Ghulam Sakeena is very thankful to Kiva, all lenders and BRAC Pakistan.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Pakistan.
