Barome K (first from right) is married with six children. Both her and her husband are farmers and her husband is a counselor in the village. Barome is active in helping to organize women for events and local counsel meetings, and has used this to organize an outstanding group of women who were all farming profitably before Sierra Leone's recent Ebola Crisis. These women lost their farms and many lost family members as a result of the crisis. Now, these women like Barome are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A low interest KIVA loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
