A loan helped a member to buy 6 sheep.

Saye's Group's story

This group of nine women is part of the 'banc villageois' which was created in February 2001. The women are mutually very supportive and work in commerce, agriculture and raise animals.

Mbayta (standing on the right in the photo with her hand raised) is the group representative. She is sixty-three years old, married and mother to eight children, of whom six are girls.

Mbayta will buy six sheep to fatten up and sell on after four or five months at the weekly markets in town.

With her profits, she plans to buy food for her family and school supplies for her children.

In this group: Saye, Malick, Maguette, Satou, Thioro, Nogaye, Ndioba, Mbayta, Marame
