A loan helped to buy fertilizers and seed for her farmland.

Yen's story

Yen lives in a rural village of the Presh Sdach district of Prey Veng province, Cambodia. She is 36 years old and married with four children, two of whom are still in school locally. To support a big family she has been farming rice. A drought resulted in a low crop yield recently, which is a major concern of hers.

Yen has taken out and successfully repaid a previous loan through Kiva's field partner VisionFund Cambodia. She has now applied for a 4,000,000 KHR loan to buy fertilizers and seed for her farmland. With this loan she hopes for a robust crop to increase her family’s income, resulting in a better life and the chance to buy some household necessities.

This loan is special because:

It supports the social and economic well-being of low-income families.
