A loan helped to invest in a bulk purchase of glass, wood, varnish and lacquer.

Asunta's story

Asunta is an artisan from Peru who specializes in reverse-painted glass mirrors and trays. She would like to invest in a bulk purchase of glass, wood, varnish and lacquer.

Asunta has been selling through NOVICA since 2000. This is her story:

Asunta tells her story: "At first my husband's family taught me, then we united our skills and labor. I realized that the more I practiced, the more this craft won me over, offering me tremendous gratification. Now I consider it a way of life. This whole process demands incredible patience and attention to detail. My designs are inspired by nature, and by traditional scenes from my town and region. I feel very proud of the works that I create."

"I am very grateful for this loan, which will allow me to acquire the materials I need to be able to keep up with demand. My work has really benefited by my family and children all of these years, and I continue to dedicate myself 100% to this craft that I truly love."
