A loan helped a member to buy animals for resale.

Jiguisseme Group's story

Djélika is holding the goat's horn in the photograph. She is from Mali, thirty-seven years old, married and mother to six children, aged between four and twenty years old. Her husband works as a farmer.

Djélika has been buying and selling animals at the local weekly markets for five years. Her profits vary between 20,000 and 30,000 francs CFA for each cycle. Her earnings pay for healthcare costs, clothing, school fees and contribute towards food costs for her family. This is the responsibility of all parents. Djélika is confronted by two problems in her business. The first is the loss of her animals despite regular care, and the second is the falling prices at the market. This is why she works with the field partner, RMCR. She would like to build a large enclosure and buy many more animals to expand her business and lift her family out of poverty by improving their living conditions.
