A loan helped to expand her grocery store by purchasing more stock of spices, salt, rice, pulses (lentils), mustard oil, etc.

Bibi's story

Bibi, a 28-year-old entrepreneur, lives with her husband and three sons; two of them are students in different classes and one is a toddler. They live in a small village in the district of Cooch Behar, West Bengal. She runs a small grocery shop and her husband is a Toto driver.

Bibi owns a business selling grocery items through a store adjacent to her home. She sells daily essential goods like rice, oil, spices, pulses, sugar, soaps, shampoo, etc., to the local people, who are her main customers. But the present family earnings hardly cover the family's basic needs with the educational expenses of their sons. In order to meet the growing inflation and costs, Bibi wants to grow her grocery business. She can earn more if they possess enough stock in the store like all types of spices, salt, rice, mustard oil, flour, biscuit, cake, tea leaves, and other daily goods that have a high demand in the locality.

To buy the grocery items in bulk, Bibi needs capital and so she is requesting a loan of INR 30,000 from BJS (Milaap’s partner) for their grocery business. With the loan money, she will be able to develop her business and income as well. It will also help Bibi to overcome all the financial hurdles of her family.

The loan money will be used to buy stocks of grocery items like spices, salt, rice, pulses, mustard oil, sugar, biscuit, cake, and other daily goods in bulk for the expansion of the business. Bibi thanks her lenders.
