Kea, 40, is a married mother of three children who lives in the village in Prey Veng province of Cambodia. She and her husband are farmers and have been operating their rice farm for the past 20 years to support the family. The family's income is supplemented by her child who is a garment factory worker, while the two other children are still in school.
Because the weather conditions have been difficult for farming, Kea is now asking for a loan with the group of four members. Kea, who appears at the far right in the photo, is the group leader.
She would like to use her loan share to purchase natural fertilizer and fuel for the water pump. She believes this investment will allow her to increase her crop yields and as well as her family's income.
