A loan helped to buy supplies for her next maize crop.

Ana Julia's story

Ana, 71, has 13 children. She lives with a daughter and the granddaughter who is pictured with her in the photo. Her daughter is a teacher and her granddaughter is in school.

Ana has been a farmer for many years and works her land with other members of her family. Her field is 100 meters away and she generally works from 5:00 am to 11:00 am. She has used two previous Kiva loans to improve her farming business, one now repaid and the other to be repaid shortly. She is applying for a new loan that she will use to pay rent on the land she farms and to buy fertilizer and other supplies for her next maize crop.

When we asked Ana what she most wants for the future, she told us that she wants a decent place to live and the resources to ensure that her granddaughter can continue going to school.
