Margaret's story

Delight Flower farm started 6 years ago on a small plot of land in central Illinois. Maggie Taylor started the farm and it has grown to include co-farmers Holly Curia and Liz Faermark. We each grew up in the Midwest. However, none of of us grew up on farms. We come to this business with varied experiences and skill-sets that apply well to the diverse demands of farming.

Maggie works weekdays as a part-time librarian, and teaches yoga. Her mother instilled a strong love of gardening and the rewards of hard work at a young age. She’s been planting, harvesting, and making art for most of her life.

Holly manages a vegetarian restaurant and has volunteered on farms internationally. Beyond her work experience, Holly is a soulful musician, artist, and writer.

Liz lives a kind of patchwork lifestyle- doing a little bit of seemingly everything including cooking, medicine-making, artwork, stand-up comedy, childcare, and more! She’s our farm herbalist and has really expanded the ways in which we can turn what we grow into value added products (like eucalyptus bath salts, calendula body butters, and more).

Together we love the creative challenges farming offers - certain flower crops’ growing requirements, working with the unpredictability of nature, fence building, marketing fresh local flowers, educating kids about pollinators, community-building, connecting with people for special life events, budgeting, you name it!
