Khan, first from the left in the picture, is 44 years old and is the featured borrower of Taung Kone S2 (A) Village Group. She is married and living with her spouse and her three children. Together with her spouse, Khan cultivates betel leaf and seasonal plants to earn a living. This is how she provides for the needs of the family. However, in order to cover their everyday expenses, Khan and her spouse sometimes work as day laborers.
In those days, Khan found it was hard to cover her family's basic needs as her finances were always tight. Finally, hardworking Khan found a way to solve her financial woes by duck farming. Three years ago, she started raising ducks and through this small business, she is able to earn a daily income by selling eggs. Currently, she owns fifty ducks, which usually lay around 600 eggs every month. Khan is really thankful to Kiva for this loan as she could definitely boost her income. She is planning to purchase 25 more ducks with this loan.
