A loan helped to buy cereals and sell at her local market.

Phylis's story

Phylis is an energetic female smallholder farmer, full of dreams for her life. She resides in a remote village in Kitale, in the Great Rift Valley region of Kenya. Phylis is the main breadwinner in her household. She has been practicing mixed farming for the past eight years. She has gained outstanding skills and knowledge in farming and therefore she commands a lot of respect.

Her primary sources of income have been milk, eggs, and crops. Although she has been making profits from farming, she deems her business skills would benefit her more if she utilizes them in selling cereals. The only big challenge she faces is the lack of funds.

She has requested a loan to buy cereals. She intends to buy different varieties of cereals such as maize, rice, wheat, and millet to sell in the local market. The demand for cereals is good, and she believes she will capitalize on that. Because of the good relationship she has with her customers, she will have comparative advantage over other market vendors.

Your contribution will have a lasting impact in her heart.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
