A loan helped to purchase different kinds of footwear, for both male and female.

Kadiatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone.

This is Kadiatu, a 42-year-old woman from Waterloo branch. She is married and has five children. Kadiatu runs a shoe business in the Waterloo community, where she sells various kinds of shoes. Kadiatu used to buy the shoes by the bale. She works in the business 9 hours per day, and 6 days a week. Sometime sales are very slow for her. Her other source of income is from gardening. She has been in this business for the past two years, now.

She requested this loan, through BRAC Sierra Leone, to purchase different kinds of footwear for both male and female. Kadiatu says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her life.

In the future, she would like to see her business activities extend to running a restaurant. She thanks you for your support.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with access to funding in areas where there are limited alternative source of finance.
