A loan helped to buy manure intended to fertilize the 2.50 hectar coffee plantation.

María Luzmila's story

María is 37 years old. She lives in the hamlet of San Pedro, a small farming town located 20 minutes from the capital of the district of Chirinos, province of San Ignacio.

María has a big family. She has 4 children of school-going age. Her coffee parcels are located in the same hamlet at 1300 metres above sea level. The coffee plantation of the catimor and mundo novo (new world) selection are in a good state. At this time and for the growth of the fruit a second fertilization is necessary to increase the volume, generating a better physical performance in the market and with that a better income.

María is a member of the coffee farming cooperative "la Prosperidad" (the prosperity) of the district of Chirinos and she can count on organic certification.
She mentiones, that being organized has led her to improve the coffee production, since she recieves incentives, training and support from her organization.

María is a quite active and reponsable woman. She takes part in every reunion and activity which take place in her locality. She is aware that by investing in an adequate way, the financing will have the opportunity to increase the quality and quantity of the coffee that she commercializes.
