A loan helped a member to restock phones and other items from Dubai.

Zionites Group's story

Women have shown the world that they can be great business leaders and that they bring unique skills and leadership approaches. Winnet, 27, is a married mother of two, who lives in Stoneridge and sells phones and phone accessories in Harare. The business was started by her husband in 2010 with little growth, until Winnet took over in 2013.

She started by assisting with selling and managed to expand to other lines of products, which were not previously sold. By mid 2014, their family business became more established and her husband relocated to another small shop selling similar items, whilst Winnet was running the major shop, which is the cash cow for the moment to support smaller shop. They used to restock items from South Africa, but competition became stiff so now they restock from Dubai, which is bit expensive in terms of transport, but quality and affordable products complement all the costs.

High demand for goods from Dubai opened an opportunity for members of the Zionites Group to expand their businesses. The group is comprised of young and energetic ladies who are all involved in retailing business. They got their second loan in July, which was successfully repaid.

Winnet wants to use her loan to restock more items from Dubai. This will enable her to keep up with the fast changing technology. Maintaining high profit margins will help her save enough money for her family's upkeep and school fees.
