A loan helped a member to buy more thread for weaving and ingredients for making cakes to sell.

Sinar Totani Group's story

Sinar Totani is a loan group consisting of nine women with their own businesses. Rosina, 42, runs businesses of selling different kinds of cakes and of weaving. She loves to do these businesses to assist her husband, Zakharias, a 49-year-old farmer, to generate income for the sake of their five children.

From both businesses, Rosina is able to earn an income of 550,000 to 1,000,000 IDR per month. She was thinking she could produce cakes in larger quantities and also more pieces of sarong. Surely, it requires more money.

Just like any other woman, she wants to enhance her businesses. Then she noticed a chance to get a loan from TLM, Kiva’s field partner. Rosina and the other women then formed the Sinar Totani Group and requested a loan totaling of 18,000,000 IDR. She wants to buy more ingredients and thread with the loan provided by TLM.

In this group: Rosina, Agnes, Martha, Rosina, Getrudis, Katarina, Paulina, Lusia, Lusia
