A loan helped to pay for higher education expenses.

Lioner Richy's story

Lioner is studying medicine and is applying for a loan to pay for his education expenses. This is his story:
“My name is Lioner, I am from San Pedro de Macorís, in the Dominican Republic. I am 28 years old, an only child. My mother died when I was ten years old and since then I live with my blind grandmother, who is my Guardian".
“I am studying Medicine at the University Central del Este. I decided to study for this qualification to be able to help those who need to improve their health. Many of them lack the money to be able to do this” .
“My family does not have the money to pay for the University tuition fees, because it is very expensive and therefore out of their reach. I am applying for a loan from Kiva to pay for the tuition fees and other student expenses. If the loan is not approved, I will not be able to pay the University, or graduate and make my dream a reality”.
“If this loan is approved, I am going to make every effort to graduate on time and get a job, preferably in National development and the local Community. I am counting on your support to achieve my dream”.

This loan is special because:

It covers the full tuition and repayments don't start until student graduates.
