Kiva loans are facilitated through 2 models, partner and direct, that enable us to reach the greatest number of people around the world.
For partner loans, borrowers apply to a local Lending Partner, which manages the loan on the ground. Lending Partners are responsible for screening borrowers, disbursing loans, posting borrowers to the Kiva website for funding, collecting repayments and otherwise administering Kiva loans on the ground to borrowers.
For direct loans, borrowers apply through the Kiva website and may or may not be endorsed by a Trustee. Unlike Lending Partners, Trustees don't handle any financial transactions or have any duty to repay loans on behalf of their borrowers. Instead, Trustees take the role of providing support and business advice to their borrowers throughout the term of the loan.
Justine is a 51-year-old Malian. She sells millet and peanuts. She lives in a small village in Mali. She is married and the mother of nine children, including six in school. Her husband makes wooden chairs. She is the one holding the bag. She has been storing peanuts and millet for 11 years. She gets her supplies at the local markets in the region and resells at the same place.
Since Justine began storing peanuts and millet, she has not always been satisfied with the work. She dreams of preparing for her children's future. She goes to the microfinance institution RMCR to ask for financing for her business to be able to work as much as she wants to. After selling the stored millet and peanuts, the revenue she generates allows her to pay for some of her family's expenses, such as health care, clothing and shoes, and her children's education.
The problem Justine most often encounters is a drop in prices in the region.

Justine est une Malienne vendeuse de mil et d’arachide âgée de 51 ans. Elle vit dans un petit village au Mali. Elle est mariée mère de 9 enfants dont 6 à l’école ; Son mari est fabriquant de chaise en bois. C’est elle qui a pris le sac en main. Elle exerce le stockage d’arachide et mil il y’a 11ans. Depuis Justine a commencé le stockage d’arachide et mil elle n’ a toujours pas eu satisfaction dans le travail. Elle reve preparer l’avenir de ses enfants. elle va vers le RMCR pour demande un financement de son activité afin de pourvoir travailler à hauteur de souhait. Après avoir vendu le mil et d’arachide stocker, le revenu générer lui permet de prend certain charges familiaux ; les frais de santé, habillements et chaussures, la scolarité des enfants. Elle s’approvisionne dans les marchés locaux de la zone et revend dans le même lieu. Les difficultés affrontées par Justine souvent, est la baisse de prix dans la zone.
R�seau de Micro-institutions de Croissance de Revenus (RMCR) is an NGO that provides credit to low-income communities in rural Mali. The organization offers community bank loans, from which borrowers can graduate to solidarity groups, and from there to individual loans. RMCR customizes the loans it offers in order to fit the unique business cycles of livestock, farming, and commerce activities.
