A loan helped to purchase fish to sell.

Emily's story

Emily E. is from the village of Yumbing, Mambajao Camiguin. She is forty years old and married with four school-aged children. To make a living, Emily owns and operates a specialized retail business, selling fish in the local market, and also selling Avon, Fullerlife, and Natasha products. Emily has been engaged in her business for over twelve years and earns approximately $215 a month for these activities.

In 2009, Emily joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation by giving her the ability to engage in business activities. Emily has successfully repaid a previous loan of 4,000 PHP from HSPFI. That loan was used to purchase new items of Fullerlife to expand her product offerings. Emily is requesting a new loan of 7000 PHP which will be used for her fish-vending business, and also to purchase a school uniform for her college student. This will be Emily's second loan from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated by the loan to expand her business and to provide educational support for her children.

About HSPFI:
