A loan helped a member to purchase natural fertilizer and rice seeds for her farm in order to increase the yields and her daily income as well.

Sopheap Group's story

Sopheap, 56, is married, has two children and lives in Prey Veng Province, Cambodia. To support the living, she has been growing rice to earn additional income for more than five years. Her family is also supported by her husband, who is a construction worker, and all of her two children are factory workers. This family typically makes 21 USD per day.

Because the weather condition has been difficult for farming in Cambodia and the produce has been decreased, Sopheap decided to apply for a loan with a group of two members.

She is pictured first from the right. As a group leader, she will use her portion to purchase natural fertilizer and rice seeds for her farm in order to increase the yields and her daily income as well. In the future, she is going to purchase one hectare of farmland, and save money to build a new house.
