April's story

Hi! I'm April, I'm a single mom of two boys. I was born in Ashland, Kentucky but raised in rural Ohio and later Kentucky. I've always loved to eat and have had a fascination with good food since I was tiny. My Mom still tells people the story of how I got my nickname (terrapin). You see, as a baby, I would crawl through the garden picking and devouring tomatoes like a little turtle....still my favorite to this day!
My fondest memories all include food...yes, it's an issue! LOL. I loved my Mamaw's cooking the best! Her oatmeal cookies, biscuits & gravy, chicken and "dumplins" (as we say in Kentucky), and apple stack cakes were to DIE for! Mamaw cooked with a pinch of this & a touch of that with the most important ingredient being LOTS of love. Funny, because my boys say that's my secret ingredient as well!
