A loan helped a loan of $8,000 will help Tsultrim attend an international exhibition in Hong Kong to market and sell his traditional Tibetan scarves and other woven products.

Tsultrim's story

In 2012, Tsultrim began a small artisan business that works with women to weave scarves and other pieces from yak khullu, the softest part of the yak’s coat. The business was founded to support local Tibetan skills and resources. Tsultrim is working to preserve and enhance the nomadic codependence on the yak for survival. Tsultrim has trained 15 people in this craft work. He has seen the demand for beautiful products woven from yak continue to grow, as foreigners become interested in the Tibetan region where he works.

A loan of $8,000 will help Tsultrim promote his products around the world, beginning with an international exhibition in Hong Kong. Tsultrim hopes to reach more clients with his same vision, and an appreciation for traditional Tibetan embroidery and weaving skills. As his business grows, Tsultrim hopes to create jobs and opportunities for more women across the Tibetan plateau.
