A loan helped to grow his business so that he can build a bakery.

Bosco's story

Bosco is a father of 5. He is a husband. For the past 15 years he has worked for himself, driving taxis and tailoring. By all measures, Bosco is a typical entrepreneur, seeing opportunities in the market and positioning himself to take advantage. They only thing different about Bosco is that he is a refugee.

Congolese by birth, Bosco fled to Rwanda in 1997 and has been living in a refugee camp for the past 19 years.

Now, Bosco proudly sells chapatis and samosas. Half of his customers are other refugees, and the other half are shop keepers in the neighboring town. Bosco's dream is to have enough capital to build a small bakery and grow his chapati business into more baked goods and breads.

AEC has worked with Bosco for the past 4 months, and he has continued to impress the AEC team. This small loan will allow him to buy more inputs for his chapati business, while AEC works with Bosco to help him develop a more robust accounting system. The hope is that with successful repayment of this loan, Bosco will have the capacity to take on a larger loan to start construction.

This small first loan will be instrumental in helping Bosco build his capacity to grow.

This loan is special because:

It helps refugees launch businesses to rebuild their lives.
