Mee Pauk-1 (D ) Village Group's story

Khaing is 30 years old and married. She has two dependent children living at home to support. She is the representative of the Mee Pauk-1 (D ) Village Group in which five loan customers are involved, including Khaing. The other group members are Phyo, Kalama, Chaw and Hla.

Khaing and her husband have been cultivating rice to earn income to support the family for about seven years. Besides farming, her husband is employed as a tractor driver to earn additional income. They approximately make around USD $5 each day.

With the Kiva loan, Khaing intends to buy higher quality fertilizer that will ensure better rice production. She will use the profits to reinvest in her business, and her ambitions are to ensure her children get a good education. Khiang is a very sociable, witty person and everyone in the village is fond of her.
