A loan helped to purchase farming inputs such as topsoil and fertilizer.

Mee Pauk-7 (A) Village Group's story

Located in Central Myanmar’s Myingyan township, this group is called “Mee Pauk” which currently has four village customers, including the featured borrower who helps to lead the loan program in the area. Pictured above are loan clients from Mee Pauk named Gyi, Myint, Thein and Aung.

Included in the photo (2nd from the left) is Gyi, who is 41 years old and married with two children. Her children are in University, and she would like to support them until they graduate. She has been farming for 25 years and her parents passed on this way of life to her.

With the new loan from Kiva, she will purchase farming inputs such as topsoil and fertilizer that will produce a better yield. With the profit, she plans to raise goats, sheep, and pigs and use the manure as natural fertilizer to improve her farm’s soil conditions. Consequently, she will have extra income that she can use to support her families’ health, education, and living expenses.

Also, extra money is contributed to village development projects, such as repairing the communal water basin and rebuilding the village roads, as many of the villagers have difficulty accessing clean water and reliable roads.

This loan is special because:

It supports economic growth for an entire village.
